Non- Architectural Work:

• High-profile interior work, including the Mind Zone and Feet zone at the Millennium Dome in London and the Z.CAR hydrogen-powered, three-wheeled automobile. I
• She worked with the clothing brand Lacoste, to create a new, high fashion, advanced boot.
• Designed the Moon System Sofa for leading Italian furniture manufacturer B&B Italia.
• She has designed her own shoes.

• This great monumental building was envisioned by Tatlin but never built.
• It was planned to be erected in Petrograd after the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, as the headquarters and monument of the Comintern, the third international.
• Was to be built from industrial materials: iron, glass and steel.
• The main form was a double helix 400 m in height.
• The base was a cube.
• Above the cube was a pyramid house and above that was a cylinder room.

My landscape manly represents American patriotism.  I’m from New York and the 9/11 attack in New York City really affected my town and me.   I wanted this piece to represent me on a more personal level.  When thinking of a landscape I immediately think of the New York City skyline, which I find very beautiful at night.  I also wanted to represent the speed and constant rush of the city by creating movement and depth.  I achieved this by adding the moving traffic towards the bottom of my landscape moving inwards towards the middle of the skyline.  I got this idea from Helle Jetzig he creates landscapes combining black and white photography with color paintings.  I love how his work creates a reality or flashing color and movement.

Manipulating color and size was a critical technique for the success of my landscape.  I wanted to play around with the scale of the images to ensure depth and various perspectives.  I also wanted to construct an alternative universe in which the viewer can get lost in and have the ability to compose their own thoughts and meanings behind the images.

One of the contemporary artists that I researched was Alex Guofeng Cao.  He experimented with various techniques in photography and played around with the gradations between very dark and very light shades.  He creates works about popular icons by making a mosaic with smaller images to construct the full image.  I really loved his work and it gave me the idea to use an American icon in my piece. I wanted to choose someone who is timeless in our history, which is why I decided to use Marilyn Monroe.  I didn’t want her to be the focal point so that’s why I made that image really transparent and put the flag over it so that the focal point stayed on nationalism.

Experimented with various techniques in photography but especially loved working with black and white.  He enjoyed the gradations between very dark and very light shades.  In his most recent work he creates works about popular icons.  He makes a mosaic with smaller images to construct the full image which entails a meaning or story.

Helle Jetzig:

His work includes both painting and photography.  His painting is non-representational true to color and form, while his photography is in black and white and is loyal to form. He makes sure that these two mediums come together cohesively. This process is very time consuming. His photographs are organized and printed on a wooden base and his painting takes weeks to complete. It is then sanded, lacquered and sealed with a finishing varnish.

Mary Capan:

Abstract Art- creating spontaneous yet original paintings.  She focuses on space and creates a world open for imagination.  She is fascinated by combinations of colors and their effects on people as a type of energy.

In paintng ive been using dots to create form and these images seem to have a similar style. I would love to be able to do digital work in this same way.
